Why Can't I Upgrade the RAM on my MacBook Pro?

Unfortunately not all Macbook Pro models are upgradable. Starting with the “Retina Display” MacBook Pro models released in 2012, Apple began soldering the memory directly onto the board to make them thinner and lighter. Once Apple discontinued the non-Retina models in 2016, no MacBook Pro models could be upgraded after purchase. If your MacBook Pro isn't listed above, this means it is one of the more recently manufactured Mac laptops and it will not be upgradable.

Since introducing the first MacBook Pro in 2006, OWC has specialized in 100% Apple-compatible memory upgrades for any non-Retina MacBook Pro model. To make memory installation as stress-free and straightforward as possible, we offer step-by-step installation videos to walk users through the upgrade process. We also provide expert technical support to assist you if any issues arise. All OWC brand memory is thoroughly tested and assured to perform flawlessly and is covered by a Lifetime Advance Replacement Warranty and a Money-Back Guarantee.

Since the debut of the Apple iMac in 1998, OWC has offered Apple-compatible memory upgrades for any Apple iMac desktop. To make the memory installation process as stress-free and straightforward as possible, we provide step-by-step installation videos to walk users through the upgrade process and expert technical support, who are more than happy to answer any questions you may have. All OWC brand memory is thoroughly tested and assured to perform flawlessly with your iMac and is covered by a Lifetime Advance Replacement Warranty and a Money-Back Guarantee.
