I needed Aperture functionality for a big project (32 bit Intel compatibility required) but the SSD died. I was keeping an old MacBook Air for the task but the SSD died and I was unsure if a SSD replacement was worth it.
So, installation was easy but one needs to be very careful. The machine now has a new life running Aperture on Mojave. Very happy.
